Just wondering who else had the privilege of working with heavy tropo. I'm not talking the little mickey mouse ears, but the big heavy set that took those beaded anchors six feet in the ground. We took it in 03 for the invasion and quickly ran out of anchors. We had to dig them up so we could 'jump' our antenna every three days. As far as I know we were the only RA unit that still had it.

Oh yes... Takes 4 experienced people 5 hours to get up that erector set. I worked with Heavy Tropo at Fort Huachuca and I think they are one of the only places that still have that ancient stuff.

We never had to dig up our anchors, but we did get the Punjar stuck so badly in the ground drilling the anchors in that a Hemmit(<--can't spell) wrecker had to come pull it out. That was hilarious!

Where were you working with it? I was in 40th Sig Bn, 11th Sig Bde April 2000- April 2001. Name was Sanders then.
