I joined the army almost exactly a year ago and graduated from AIT as a 25U on 16 August 2007. I found out two days ago i was going to be deploying in may to Baghdad. I was just wanting to know if there are some 25U that could give me some advice and guidance on maybe what i would be doing and how i could maybe prepare myself. I am a PFC and have never left the states. I know that it depends on what unit i am going to be deployed with but if anyone could offer any advice at all i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Really that all depends on the type of unit your in and where your going. When I was in Iraq my commo shop was split up among the entire bat. We had on average 2 25u's with each company and about 4 or 5 more back in our commo shop on stryker. Then we had 2 25u's posted up at the TOC. So it's really anyone's guess. I can't give you any kind of projection as to your own personal experience. Just be sure you study your skills and be a value to your unit. It's not as terrible as the media makes it out to be. Yes, you could get shot or hit an ied but your just as likely to get messed up in the states. Keep focused on your job, don't get lazy while your over there and enjoy the tax-free pay and the experience of visiting a whole other world.

p.s. the rainy season sucks
