And it looks like everyone is invited.

A new specialty, 25E (electromagnetic spectrum manager), is an example of an enlisted MOS created in response to transformation requirements.

The NCOs assigned to the specialty will manage frequency assignments and radio frequency usage in the field units.

"“This is a new MOS that was created out of the normal cycle because of pressing needs by the Signal Corps,” Newman said.

The specialty will be staffed by selected soldiers from 10 other Signal Corps MOSs (25C, 25F, 25L, 25N, 25P, 25Q, 25S, 25U, 25W and 25X)."

Guaranteed to be deleted down the road or absorbed into another MOS once things settle down. I'm actually surprised that this wasn't part of a warrant officer MOS.

Spectrum management isn't really all that tough. In fact there is software that can do it for you. Many wireless carriers use it. I've seen RF engineers, including myself, manage carrier class wireless regions with excel. All it takes is a basic understanding of the spectrum, propagation, and being creative with organization.

However, knowing when and how to apply it when it counts means a lot more than OJT!
