Hey Guys i'm Fairly new to the boards, and i am currently seeking information about the MOS 25D... I am interested in Joining the Reserves and this seems like a MOS that i would be good at... (Currently i'm a 24 yr old Computer Technician that loves his Job).. .But i want to serve my country also...
Some info i would like... Where is Basic training at? i assume Ait is at Gordon? It says it approx 7 weeks at Ait, is this accurate? Also since i have been working on PC's for the last 6 years is there anything else that is out there with the 25D...
Also what is the daily operations for a 25D? At drill and even overseas if any of the 25D's on this forum have been deployed...
Pretty much i want all the information possible about this MOS so i can decide if it is right for me!..
25d as far as i know is on its way out. the only thing unique about it was comsec custodian which now all 25 series can do you still have to go 2, 2 week classes. I am one btw as a 25b. I think another poster said he was going to ait as a 25d and his unit had already told him he would have to go to 25b after that, turns out after they graduated they were all awarded the 25b mos, might be a way they are dealing with the crowded 25b classes I do not know.
We still get 25D classes, although after they get MOS-Q for 25D, they stay to attend 12 more weeks of school for 25B courses. I taught the first "Transitional" class and they were pissed, cause they didn't know they had to stay till after they did their 25D stuff.
oh yeah, I was a 25D before reclassing last year. I have been a 25D(74C) since 1994 and I have never done COMSEC, but I did work in telecommunication Centers, which are being have been becoming civilianized.
I have never been deployed, so I can't help ya there. I have worked at NORAD as a 1C3(Command & Control for the Air Force) and I have also been to 5th Signal Command and worked at a helpdesk, even the NCOIC there as a 25D. So, jobs are open to anything!
comsec isnt an mos, its an additional duty now. basically anyone that goes thru SCCC (2 weeks) and LMCS(2 week) can be a comsec custodian or alternate.
