I am preparing to reclassify as a 25B, after 6 years of being a 92A. I am 40 yrs old, an E5, and a married father of 3.
We have heard that the course can be as short as 19 weeks and as long as a year (something to do with Security+ training). We would like to know: 1. How long can the course be? 2. What is life like for an NCO reclassing as 25B? 3. What is base housing like for families? 4. What are my contractual obligations after I graduate? (length of contract, etc.)? If anyone can help that would be great. Thanks. |

Know nothing about the course.
Housing areas are mixed. Some pretty old quarters, some new. They keep them in pretty good repair. Not a lot crime in the housing areas, but there is some. I would say it is below average for a civilian community. You do have your occasional teen mischief and other minor things. Of course, as on any military base, you will have you occasional domestic problems. Do not...I repeat DO NOT leave anything of value sitting around in the training units. It will be taken. Especially laptops, mp3 players, cellphones, handheld video games...they are all hot items right now. Thats my 2 cents. Stop taking life so seriously, you're not getting out alive anyway. |

I am assuming he is Active duty, but if he is NG he can take the course at a few other other locations in the US. I work at one school house at camp robinson. but at gordon, being prior service he wont be living with the initial entry students, he should be able to trust other soldiers that have been in while. I went thru in 2003 nothing was stolen, however as bow said, if its your first time in the army the is lots of theivery there in Gordon amongst the lower enlisted.
