Is anyone familiar if there is an age waiver for enlisting over 27? I scored a 96 on my ASVAB and I am considering all my options.
Is a college degree required for officer training school? I have approximately half my degree complete from UCLA. I plan to talk to a recruiter but don't want to waste his time if there are no waivers for these types of things. Thank you. |

I don't know about an age waiver for enlisted... To go to OTS you need a 4 year degree.. |

As far as age goes, I enlisted at the age of 27 without a waiver. If I am remembering correctly the cutoff age is 34. So you should be fine.

No waiver is required for someone as long as they are in BMT by their 28th b-day.
If that can't happen, an age waiver can be considered. For it to be approved, there needs to be a reason why it took so long to enlist. Supporting a family, college, etc. You need to be within 1 year of graduation to apply for an officer position. Also, a general rule of thumb with waiver is only one. If you need a waiver for another reason, ie legal waiver, be prepared for it to be denied. |

Ummm, I may have been a special case, but I enlisted at the age of 28 with an age waiver, a morals waiver (a misdemeanor slip-up at age 17), a finance waiver (a couple 'unpaid' final utility bills that never got forwarded to me after moving) and a medical waiver(pending a vision check regarding a corneal ulcer I had that left a scar)..... andno college credits and a GED to top it off! My point is it can be done, assuming you have nothing else to disqualify you and you work with a good recruiter. I got a composite 92 on my ASVAB and had to write a statement on why I waited so long to try to enlist. And it was all worth it.

Finance waiver (FED) is common for about 99% of the people that walk through the door. Medical waivers are a different chain of command they don't count. And at 28, something that happened at 17 isn't the same as being 28 with something that happened at the age of 25. So, yeah, you sorta were a special case. |

From your sn I'm guessing you're 32. It's HIGHLY unlikely you would get an age waiver based on your age and what you're posted, but it doesn't hurt to talk with someone. After they say no, go next door and Go Navy before it's too late. |

Or check on the ANG and USAFR age requirements...a lot of jobs in those components are not the 'weekend warrior' jobs they are often rumored to be. On edit: ANG NPS: age 17-34 (source) USAFR NPS: age 17-34 ( source) |
