SO I LEAVE JULY 29TH FOR BASIC AND I GOT MY JOB WHICH IS ENGINEERING APPRENTICE! I KNOW THAT THE TECH SCHOOL IS AT THE ARMY BASE FORT LEONARD WOOD, MO! I'VE BEEN ON MANY SITES AND I'VE GOT DIFFRENT LENGTHS FOR THE TECH SCHOOL.. I JUST WANTED TO GET SOMEONES PERSPECTIVE OF THE JOB, TECH SCHOOL, AND BASES THAT PEOPLE ARE AT.. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW HOW PEOPLE LIKE THE JOB. A FEW PEOPLE THAT I HAVE SPOKE TO SAY THEY LOVE IT...

Stay away from the strip clubs in MO. The tech school is pretty easy. Just remember that they're looking for attention to detail. There are a lot of requirements that are go/no-go. The great thing about this job is that you can go pretty much anywhere. If you like office jobs and sitting in front of a computer all day, you'll love the job. I got sick of it and now I can't stand being cooped up all day. But, to each his own.

How long is tech school.. What's a day in the job pretty much consist of and how long are your work days. I've been told that they work 12 hour shifts and work 14 days out of the month. Any truth to that?

I am at FLW right now and about 3.5 weeks from my scheduled graduation date. I have been here since May 4th. It is stricter than being at an Air Force Base because there are the Navy, Marines, and Army all here. You can not go ANYWHERE at ANY TIME without a wingman. You can not smoke on base at all, and you sign in and out whenever you leave the dormitory area. We march to and from class (which I have heard some schools do not have to do). We have open ranks once per week and PT three times a week (run 2 to 3 miles). The gym in our area is not bad so bring some work-out clothes. There is NOTHING TO DO off base unless you like hiking and fishing so bring your entertainment. Everyone seems to get a tattoo while they are here but I have resisted it so far.

You leave pretty soon for Basic so good luck. STAY HYDRATED. It is very hot around here and muggy right now but by the time you get here it should be cooling off I guess.

I believe that's true.. everyone MOSTLY works the same amount of hours, some just work in bigger chunks, then get more time off. etc. there are always exceptions, though.
