I am in the delayed enlistment for the air force leaving on march 2nd for basic training. I got a DWI in November went to court and got charged with a dwai which is a traffic violation not a misdeamenor. I have to take a 7 week DDP class and will have my license back a month before basic starts I am wondering if i will still get to go or will they kick me out for getting into trouble. My recruitor told me he doesnt know but will let me know if anything changes... Has this ever happened to anyone before? If so what happened?

I can tell you its not a good start to your potential career. Any alcohol related incident in the AF today is bad news and has some serious reprocussions to the member. Honestly your probably going to be in the DEP for awhile so the recruiter can process a moral waiver. Hopefully things wont go south for ya!

What you received was a Category 4 offense. Depending on your other law violations in the past, this may DQ you from the AF and require a waiver. If this is your first law violation, you should ok as long as you complete the courses.

Talk to your recruiter and tell them that there is a new change to the instruction about this. it is called a PGM, they should know about these.
