Ok, I like to travel. I want to "see the world". I plan on using the AF to pay for school although I am not 100% sure of what I want to major in. I am interested in computers but I also like politics and public service (with the election going on who doesn’t? lol ) but mainly computers, fixing them.
My jobs as a civilian include Bank teller (yawn) Customer Service Manager at a grocery store (best place to meet girls) and other customer service/office jobs. But none of these are what I want to spend my life doing. That’s why the AF is looking like a GREAT option at this point in my life. I'm 23, single, no kids and I am ready to start making up for lost time that was spent BSing.
Anyway... what job do you guys recommend?
sup man. You definitely have the right interest (computers) paired with the right branch (Air Force). Travel in the Air Force? It can happen...just maybe not as much as we'd all like. I'm closing in on my 3rd year and the only places I've been were BMT, Tech School and my first duty station (Hurlburt Field). Oh yea, I did get the opportunity to see Afghanistan, the airport terminal of Ramstein Germany, the sand in Kuwait and Iraq! Lookin for orders to Korea just to shake things up again.
Travel? Not so much, but ya never know. You could be one of those guys who gets bumped all over. Computer career fields in the AF are abundant, many of which will provide you with a TS clearance which = $$$ on the outside if you decide to part ways after your contract.
The things I always tell people considering joining: if nothing else, use the military as a stepping stone. Get in, get your IT experiance, clearance, college education, serve your country, and if you decide to serve one term, you've set yourself for just-add-water success on the outside.
The best thing you ever did was coming to this site to find out about the AF. Keep doing your research and you'll find yourself enlisted in no time.
