Long story short, when I was 18 (just turned 27) i was wrongly accused of being in a big fight (WTF right?) a bunch of people pointed me out as the "ring leader" although I was next door at my friends house..with her parents. The next morning cops come to my door and say im under arrest for gun possession! I was totally clueless about what was going on..it was a weekend so I spent a day or two in the tank till bailed. Did the court thing with all of my witness's and everything was dropped while the accusers got in trouble for filing false reports.
Now..everything was going smooth until he said to explain the details, I believe the word GUN scared him but he said its an AUTO DQ. I say BS because if I would have never been complexity honest he'd never know. I don't carry or own a gun, never have, never had any other problems with the law either. I've had an FBI check with a high security gov't job and was cleared. I'm really depressed about this because I'm truly out of options in my life, i've been training for over a year to lose weight and get my #'s up and when i finally get there...this happens.
Should I try a different recruiter and not mention being wrongly accused about the charge? It is no where in the system, I've never had any criminal charges and no papers say anything about a gun.
Try going to a different recruiter and explain to them very carefully what happened. It's never a good idea to lie, especially if you have to go for a top secret clearance.
Yeah I explained to him once before and he was fine with it then this time I told him about the crazy B who made that false report and it was a different ball game. I posted on AF forums and all those guys don't believe me and think i had a gun. That really bothers me, I've been anti gun/NRA all my life (NOT for military though!)

Anti gun, anti NRA? May as well be anti American in my opinion.
that is why we live and protect this great nation, is for folks to have opinions and beliefs that differ. I do however believe that the NRA is one of the largest organizations that stands between us and our 2nd amendment rights.I'm a member, have been for quite a few years and my personal opinion though is that folks that believe people shouldnt have the right to bear arms in their own home or property for whatever reason they want and for personal protection concealed and otherwise through the legal channels are foolish and dont realize the freedom they would be throwing away and the real threat from evil folks that prey on others that exists.
Brunettes, I am a prior cop. Its not out of the realm of possibilitiy that your were charged with something that you didnt committ. ive seen it ALL THE TIME. You get small town cops and they get a lead of something big happened- they run with it and dont bother checking their facts. This is America, It DOES happen, but, if it didnt in your case, then its your responsibility to see that you get it taken care of (ie- expungement). Being that you havent after all this time leads me to beleive that theres more to the story. By some chance that the story you told is the truth, then call your state court clerks office and ask how you can get an expungement, most of the time its a matter of showing up to court with an attorney and a check and thats it...Good Luck to you! Don't give up!
Andrews1377- that is the story in a nutshell, I obviously can't tell the whole story or else it would be two pages long but nothing of severe importance was left out. I don't have anything on my record..what is there to expunge? Everything that could be done to make sure this would not come back to haunt me was done many years ago. The ONLY reason why he found out about it was because I'm honest, none of the background check paperwork came up with anything.
I won't give up because I've work hard for nearly two years to get my mind and body in shape.

Well, I thought you said you "were charged" if you were arrested then you were formally charged, there fore you were right to disclose the incident to him regardless of the disposition. If there were no arrest or formal charges then there was no need to disclose anything to him. So if I were you, at this point, if were not arrested, Id go back to him and tell him that and you'll be in the clear. Otherwise, you will have a few extra steps to do to get in and get a security clearence...otherwise, you should be fine...
The AF is more concerned with why you were arrested/charges than the outcome UNLESS it is shown that the authorities were wrong, as your case appears to be. Make sure everything was dropped. COMPLETELY - no conditions or anything. Also, if you can show it was a false report, that will help you. Go to your local courthouse, pay the overpriced fees to get copies of your case/diposition & that of the false report, then go to a different recruiter.
you were charged, if you were not convicted of a crime then it does not stick. It should not be an issue at all and more then likely should not have to be brought up.
