not really military equipment, but not sure where else to ask.

I'm looking for a communications device, with global coverage, that won't cost me the same a mortgage payment a month.

Only restriction is it needs to be a flat one rate plan, not pay by the minute.

Now sat phones, they seem to offer what I'm looking for, down side, is size, and they can't be used indoors.

I already have a globalstar gsp-1600, its a little to large, and the sat and cellular coverage are not from the same company.

I like the idea of having sat and cellular coverage, however would prefer they be from the same company and on the same bill.

The DoD has a iridium sat phone, but the unlimited rate is something like $3** and only for official use, other than globalstar having a unlimited north America plan I have not seen anyone else offering such a plan..

Any of you tech guys know someone with a good plan? Or perhaps something better than a sat phone?

Areas of use would be USA, Asia mostly.
Would prefer something small enough to carry in ones pocket.
Unlimited voice/data/sms/mms
