If you are given the opportunity to go the civilian route, the age cut-off is 37. Is this the same for active duty folks? I am thinking of trying the active duty route if not accepted on the civilian side, however, by the time I hit E6 I will probably be 37 or older... is this an issue to attend FLETC?

A former Reserve agent became a civilian agent. His position was a "secondary" position, which has no age restrictions (usually supervisory).
Big Larry went through FLETC at age 52. With that said, he's "Big" Larry for two reasons: his height (about 6'3"), and his bench press (he's benched over 400 lbs.). Primary civilian positions are considered "rigorous law enforcement" and are subject to the 37 years of ago rule. As for military agents, I haven't seen any age requirements, only rank/rate. I entered into the program at age 43. This message has been edited. Last edited by: JerryG, |

Age Requirement: Not Waiverable
Applicants cannot have reached the age of 40 prior to attending FLETC. This aligns the CG program with other agency requirements. Go to special assignments website. This will show you last year’s message but is a good measurement for what you can expect for next solicitation. http://www.uscg.mil/cgpc/epm/docs/CGIS.pdf |
