I have decided pursue a career in the Coast Guard (or Air Force or Navy) after grad school and would love to pursue any avenue that would give me a chance to become an investigator. BS degree was social science and MS degree is college student affairs w/ option in student services in intercollegiate athletics. I have taken the practice ASVAB on military.com and I have no idea how to score it. I did a google search and used some of the methods I found to score it but my score turned out to be very low when I computed it that way...which doesn't seem to make sense (at least I hope not)! Although I did breeze through the 200 questions in about 20-30 minutes, with no pen or paper or anything, I dont think I did too horrible.
here are my scores on the practice ASVAB:

Questions/ Correct/ Incorrect/ %
General Science 25/ 22/ 3/ 88
Arith. Reas. 30/ 25/ 5/ 83.3
Word Knowledge 35/ 27/ 8/ 77.1
Para. Comp. 15/ 13/ 2/ 86.7
Auto & Shop 25/ 16/ 9/ 64
Math. Know. 25/ 17/ 8/ 68
Mech. Comp. 25/ 16/ 9/ 64
Electronics 20/ 12 8/ 60

Can anybody help me make sense of this and tell me that I DID NOT score in the 1th percentile (like it says I did when I tried to compute it myself with the formulas from google, haha) Anybody know if my score would end up good after officially computed by the Coast Guard? What kind of officer jobs does anyone think could get? ANY input is helpful!
Thank You.

Despite the fact MEPS made my recent IV candidate take the ASVAB, there was no need for him to do so (according to the local recruiter).

My candidate finished an 11-year hitch with the USMCR this past April, so maybe that had something to do with it.

None in CGIS, unfortunately. The only Officers in CGIS are Warrant Officers. Sorry!

Good luck!

DCIO..

REMEMBER - No hyperlinks unless a ".mil" or ".gov" or a Military.com link.

Is the "gocoastguard.com" link on Milcomm's homepage somewhere? If it is, post that link instead.

DCIO?

Reserve CGIS agents are either enlisted (IVs) or warrants (INVs).

No direct commissioned officers at all.

224 -

If you do happen to receive a direct commission, if you happen to land at a Marine Safety Unit or Sector Prevention Office, you may have the opportunity of attending the Investigating Officer Course and becoming a Marine Casualty Investigator.

Is this what you were looking for?

If so, Good luck!
