Hello...I am looking for the specific requirments for Investigator IV. I am prior service (Army) active and guard. I am currently a Police Officer (Basic Patrol) with 6 1/2 years experience.

Do I have to be a detective or Sgt. or can experience as a patrol officer qualify me for the job ?

Investigative experience, training, or education is preferred, but not required.

You don't have to be a Sgt. or Detective necessarily.

You have to be a certified, academy-trained LEO with three years experience.

I know a number of IV's who were/are patrol officers with their agencies when accepted into CGIS.
