Awesome!
As a WWII buff and son of a 7th Army veteran, I am glad to see something covering the mostly forgotten part of the ETO. Historian Charles Whiting summed it up in the title of a book when he referred to the 7th Army as the forgotten Army. My father was with the 63rd Inf Div, the first 7th Army unit to cross the Siegfried line and the first unit to get an entire division across. The 3rd Ind Div had the highest casualty count with over 27,000 casualties. There are many other stories to be told while some of the veterans are alive to appreciate them. |

Great pics.. I loved slide 18 with the Seventh ARmy troops crossing the Rhine River at Worms. In the background is one end of the archway into the city. When I served in Worms in 1978-79, I drove under that archway all the time.. Too bad the other one isn't viewable.
What's amazing to me, is that I can picture myself crossing the river at this point... and now I actually have a pic of the military in action, some 30 years before I arrived.. Great pics.. Jerri US Army Veteran Signal Corps 77-80 |
