If you're talking about ET "A" School, then you don't 'put in' for anything... If you have 15 people in your class then they'll give your class a list of 15 billets and you then pick which one you want based on your class standing (grades, time in service, sea time, etc...) The top person picks where they want, followed by the second person, etc...
If you're talking about boot camp then you can pick whatever you want, but you'll wind up wherever the CG says you'll wind up... Regardless of what you put on your "dream sheet"... Hope this helps...
Keep in mind that most CONUS LORAN Station have solid state transmitters now and the billet is usually an ET2 billet ( definitely for good reasons ). Good luck at whatever unit you get !

Not that I'm aware of... I'm almost 100% sure you need some fleet time as a third and you have to request to go over there... And there is no point in 'A' School where they solicit for volunteers...
Some CONUS LORAN stations have two billets for SNET's and ET3's, one ET1, one ETC, and a MK and some have a SK. I have also heard of stations having one ET3/2 billet. I couldn't imagine maintaining one of these transmitters without two thirds, it is a lot of work.
I am actually going to school very soon, I think. (Number 10 on the wait list) I was considering an isolated duty. That may sound odd, but I think it would be a cool experience. Anyone have any input on what these LORAN stations are like? Any one been to one or has a buddy that has? What exactly goes on up there? Just curious.
