an ET.

What's it like?

What did you do today, and how did your efforts effect the mission?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Well, I haven't thought about Voltage, Current or Resistance in about a year and a half.

Today I went to a high school and talked to a handful of students about the opportunities available to them in regards to joining the Coast Guard.

As far as the mission, I may have convinced one or more of them to consider joining, I may have accomplished absolutely nothing, and I probably will never know one way or the other.

I think you are a big part of the mission Chief; there are still a lot of people out there who don't know anything about the Coast Guard. It's a great service, in my opinion, the best! Best career choice I've made!

As far as my days... I spend them learning the ins and outs of the MK-92 so that soon I can get underway and become part of the operational fleet (can't wait to puke my brains out on that 270' Razz ).

preventative maintenance, troubleshooting broken gear, writing CASREPS, installing new electronic systems, keeping the shop filled with the proper tools and parts, and much more

its a great job and i definately love it, im just ready to try the land side of being an ET

if you want to be an ET i would recommend it and 210 life as an ET is nice because you get to work on everything, not just NAV or COMMS stuff, there are only 3 ET's on 210's so its nice getting to get your hands into everything not just certain gear. i for one have learned a lot from being on a 210

i am a non rate in portland oregon, ive been here for a month now since graduating from tracen cape may. i am pretty sure that i want to go the ET route after speaking with several ETs over the last week.
my question is....
being rated as an ET, during my coast guard career, will i have a chance to work a bunch of different billets? IE a 210, small boat station, sector, etc? i dont want to get stuck behing a desk at any point.
