Just wanted to pass along a great opportunity for those departing the Guard soon.
I retired in June and went to work for a company called Oceaneering. You should go to their web site and check them out. I went to a 9 week training program (paid while attending) on their Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV) and now I'm a ROV technician/Pilot. These ROV's are basically a submarine/robot that is flown from the surface and conducts all aspects of offshore oil and gas exploration work worldwide. Check out their web site and if you have any questions let me know. |

I worked for United Airlines befor going into the Coast Guard, I entered at 24 years old in 1953. After boot I went on the TANEY and six weeks later I was sent to the ET school at Groten. After the school I went to YBI in SF bay. A year at YBI ( 6 months to make ET2)and orders to 14th CG dist.
Was sent Eniwetok loran station and after 33monthes in the CG I made ET1. I had only 6 weeks sea duty, but in those days it could happen! I left the Coast Guard in 1957 and returned to United Airlines, the JETS were coming! I spent the next 25 years in engineering management, the aircraft computer and flight controles were my systems. From the DC8 through the 747. I can blame it all on the USCG ET"A" School I retired in 1983 S.D.jorgensen ET1 1953-1957 |
