The two times I got back pay I think I received it either before the letter or within a few days. I have direct deposit so that is possible, and have been rated for 30 years.
I think one issue is that you are retired from the military. That makes things more complex. You are entitled to CRDP. That requires the VA and DOD to coordinate. The VA a first may say you have been paid by DOD and therefore we do not owe you anything. It is an issue that others have reported.
I had waited to respond hoping that someone who is an expert on this topic would have explained it.
If you are entitled to a retro check then it should come within 15 days of your award letter. You will start getting paid you monthly entitlement the next month after that.
I received a 2nd Remand Letter (Jul 07) asking for the same medical info of the 1st Remand letter of July 06. I submitted and was received at the AMC in Wash DC Aug 08, 2007 the med rcds requested. Thus, when can I expect a final decision to a claim initiated 5 years ago?
I started wondering this same question just an hour ago after a phone call I made to the VA. The VA needed to confirm some information so I had to go and call in. Ironically it was about my bank information change I sent in a few weeks ago. For some reason I left off a few digits when I gave them the account number when I changed my direct deposit to a different bank. All fixed now.
BUT in the same call, I found out that as of TODAY, my claim has been decided etc. She could not tell me any of the details because it still needed a 'supervisors' signature and she said the details are not yet entered into the system. But it HAS been decided for each of the things listed in the claim.
So realistically I still do not know if my claim for any of the increases were granted but at least I know any day now I will find out! And since reading this thread I also now know if I do get an increase I will not have to wait long for the additional income... and in my case it will be a most welcome thing after all these years of waiting.... now to just pray and hope I do not have to appeal anything..
