I've search all over and can't find an answer so here goes.
I have a 20% rating for diabetes and was just awarded 70% for PTSD totaling now 80% disability.
I'm on 100% SS Disability and pay 100 a month for medicare. Is paying for medicare necessary or could I drop it being that I am over 50% VA disabled?

I always recommend keeping Medicare. It allows you to choose outside medical care if you can not get the care you want at the VA.
Definitely keep your Medicare Part B. Part B covers outpt care at non-VA centers. Do you think you might ever ride in an ambulance to a non-VA hospital? Choose to get a care at a private doctor's office b/c it's more convenient than the VA? Need lab work done by a home health agency? Want medical equipment outside the VA? Be admitted to a pvt hospital (Part A) & have the daily doctor visits at your bedside (Part B) covered?.....KEEP PART B. VA Fee Basis is very limited on what it will pay for community expenses (even for 50%SC+). Keep your Part B so you'll have the best options. If you drop it, but later want it back, you'll pay a monthly penalty fee (forever) for having dropped it. Also, you can only request to return to Part B from 1/1-3/31 (restart on 7/1). Shwew, I have a strong opinion on Part B. Hope that helps.
