I'm looking for information on how the weapons and sensors of the USS Spruance evolved over time. I've been able to find dozens of photos of her but the dates tend to be very unreliable. In particular I'm trying to find out when the Harpoon launchers, OE-82 SATCOM antennae and CIWS were installed. Any info on sensors and their installation or movement about the ship would also be appreciated. Any info on significant changes to her camo would also be a help.
Sorry, don't think you will find those types of answers here. They may or may not be matters of national security, but you are definitely treading very close.
Being that you are a defense contractor, if your COR thinks you should have that info, they will provide it. Otherwise, maybe you should get up off the money and hire a consultant and get the info that way.
A good, unclassified development history on the Spruance class destroyer was a book published by the U.S. Naval Institute in 1996(?) was "Electric Greyhounds". Sorry that I can remember the name of the author. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the suggestion. Michael Potter was the author. I was able to get in contact with him last weekend and order his last new copy of the book. I suspect it will answer most of my questions.
