I was wondering does anyone know where I can find government contractor jobs or companies that are working in Iraq or Afghanistan? I would like to know what types of jobs are out there and how much they pay, how long are the contracts, etc.

Thanks

I would concentrate your search for companies like URS Corporation (EG&G, URS, and LSI), KBR, Lockheed Martin, Dyncorp, General Dynamics, SAIC, L-3 Communications, and ManTech. These companies and many more are going a lot of work in Iraq/Afghanistan.

P.S. - I work for EG&G which is one of the divisions of URS Corporation.

I am not a fan of L3. SAIC has recruited my husband twice, and I think this time he is going to go w/ them(how can you pass up $100K), and he wont even have to leave the country. People would give their left nut to work for SAIC. I give ManTech a thumbs up as well.

However, be leary of contracts - they only last for at times the max 3 years. Then the contract's have to be rebid thru the gov't. YOu dont always have to leave the country to get paid top dollar, a college degree helps as well.

I'm not a fan of L-3 either, but that's because I'm a contracting officer and they're a b*tch to work with--I would assume they are the same with thier employees.

SAIC is a darned good company with tons of diversification. They, too, have recruited my dh and I've known three other people who have worked for them (a packaging specialist, a marine biologist and a gal who recently got picked up as an SES and negotiated a nice salary).

I don't know enough personally about the other companies to comment, except that the larger ones, like General Dynamics and Lockheed, have good diversification, too, but are sometimes so huge they become cumbersome.

Good luck!

I am looking at jobs in the administrative field and the MWR coordinators positions with KBR. Does anyone know if any other contractors have these type of positions...I've been looking at the ones you guys recommended but do not see any.

Thanks

MPRI is another company.

Most of the companies I have listed are for people w/ previous combat skills(well the jobs I am aware of that my husband always gets emails on).

How does one usually get these government contract positions? I'm thinking of enlisting after I grad from Purdue, what MOS's do these relate to?
