Hello, we will be relocating to Columbus, Mississippi the end of June, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any good jobs in the area? I have my degree in Finance/Accounting, and all I can seem to find is Nursing jobs. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
We were stationed in Columbus, MS almost two years ago and finding a job was not the easiest task, but it can be done. There are several banks in the area, if that is an area that you may be interested. I spoke with someone at the Airman and Family Readiness Center who knew several people within the community and called some businesses. One bank asked me to drop off my resume and I did get a call for an interview. There are jobs on base that are available to civilians as well (I worked in marketing for services and I know of a couple of people who worked in the frame shop, taught dance classes at the youth center, etc). I know of some wives who took part-time jobs since they were only going to be there for a short time for pilot training (worked in the local coffee shop or as a receptionist in a hair salon). Granted these options may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it does help pass the time and you are able to earn a little extra money at the same time. I hope this helps! Good luck!
Good luck with the job search. I lived there for about 6 years in Starkville. I looked for jobs for you. There is nothing availalbe for your job. I know Clientlogic in Starkville is always hiring but you have to know computers. I hope you like it. My hubby and I are from there and we hate it. I hope he never have to be stationed there even tho our family is there. All I can say is get your resume and get it out there every where.

Excited to find your post. I am owner of a local Columbus coffee shop, Beans & Cream. We feature Seattle's Best Coffee, Edy's Ice Cream and baked goods from Ole Country Mennonite Bakery.
I ALWAYS employee CAFB wives. At present time I have 5 wives in our staff of 14. Since opening in 2004, I can confirm the major contribution the girls have made to the successful operation of our business. I look for employees with life skills and experiences to relate to our customers. I do not consider that the wives may be here for a short period of time. I have been fortunate to employ teachers, nurses, accountants, art history majors, micro biologists, even an Air Force Academy graduate.
In May we lost Lauren (from MA) when husband Jonathan was assigned to Corpus Christi. In March we lost Becky (from SC) when husband Casey received an assignment in AZ. We miss each girl, but now we have Caitlin and Sarah both from CA.
If you are in Columbus, please stop by and visit. I would like to meet you even if you have already found a job. We are located in the Shops at Brickerton across from the Hampton Inn. Anyone from the base should be able to give you directions.
