If I remember correctly, she would set her own prices. She can go through the FDA (I think!) and get reimbursed for some of the money spent on food for the daycare children. I began the training several years ago, but didn't have a chance to finish. I know most of the in-home providers I have met are more than satisfied with the pay they bring in, and seem to enjoy being able to be home with their children, as well as watching other people's children. I'll try to remember to ask our FCC trainer tomorrow for the specifics.

Ok, it's not the FDA, it's the organization that you report income to to get free or reduced lunch through the school system. My brain is not functioning correctly right now. As stated before, I'll speak to our FCC person tomorrow and get specifics!

I spoke to the FCC people today. Basically, it depends on what tier the income falls in how much, if any, reimbursement she will get from USDA. She may also qualify to get federal aid for running an in home daycare. The income also benefits you at tax time, because she would be a business owner. As the FCC person told me today, most FCC providers feel that they have the best of both worlds. They are gaining income, are able to stay at home with their children, and their children can socialize with other kids. Think of it this way, if you have two children, she'll be eligible to take on four more. If she charges $75/week/child, that's an additional $300 a week your family will have for income. I have a family of six, and even we don't spend that much on groceries! If she thinks she can handle it, I would say go for it!

as an FCC provider ( I was one for 3 yrs) you are your own business-

she will set contracts, meal plan, pay scales-
she will be 100% fully responsible for the care and welbeing of the children in her care-

the pay is based on what she charges whether hourly, weekly or monthly, whether she does full time or part time or combo of the 2.

food supplies ect all come out of the profit she makes- tho most FCC's have a lending library to get some things to use- like sand and water tables, toys, some times art supplies - ( that depends on thier operating budget)
but everything she buys is tax deductable.

I loved doing it- I got to stay home- made a very decent income ( I did qualify for the USDA food program) and would do it again if the oppertunity arose.

please feel free to email me if she has more questions.
