Ok Ladies (and Gents)
We pcs'd to Fort Carson almost a month ago and I am going absolutely nuts. My husband just thinks its funny, but I have never not had a job or not worked since I was 15 years old. The job market here seems to be so tough cause there are so many installations. Would anyone have any ideas as to a place to turn, I have done all the main ones like monster, career search and I have gone to ACS. Any help would be much appreciated.

Dont count on monster-i was out of work for a year and it didnt help at all. Whats your skillset? I have a very nice contractor job on Ft Carson that i really like-and i know of three more openings coming up-you will need a security clearance or the ability to get one-if you are interested click my user name and email me thru the site-i can point you in a variety of directions both on ft carson and at peterson, schiever and the academy. Several of th those companies also have local offices that are not on any of the installations. Those jobs will be on the contractors web sites not monster or career builder. The civilian economy here is pretty solid -with out knowing your skill set or what you are looking for its a little hard to know what direction to point you but theres stuff out there if you look in the right place. Also you might want to look at coloradospringsjobs.com. Hopefully some of that will help a little.

Have you tried local temp to hire agencies? They can sometimes help you get your foot into the door of a job.

okay ladies-the economy other than the housing market is quite good here so it shouldnt be that tough-here are some suggestions-Pike Peak Work force has a military spouse employment program-google should find thier web site for you. Civilian personnel is good for jobs on post-there are all of the chain resturants here as well as two malls and an open air shopping center if you want to work retail. For professional jobs there are three hospitals-memorial, penrose and evan army as well as st mary corwin in pueblo. All of the major military contractors Northrup Gurman,Raytheon, Lockheed, Tapestry,Harris et al have offices here with jobs on any of the installations. If you are looking for work in law enforcement there are DOD civilian Police on all of the installations, the El Paso County Sheriffs office, the Pueblo County Sheriffs office, the City of Colorado Springs, and the Citys of Pueblo and Pueblo West. Google should give you web sites for any of those places-USAJOBS.com will have dod police jobs. Good Luck

Hello all

Im on my way to ft. carson and my lady will be over this summer to check things out. I will be deployed either in aug. or dec. so it doesnt make much sense for her to leave her current job until after my initial deployment.

My question to all of you is....she is a teacher, specializing in chemistry and will soon be certified to teach physics, have any of you had any dealings with the school systems there and/or the dod education system?!

We are trying to decide wether it would be more beneficial to only concentrate on the dod side of education or not worry with it all together.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if she is going to teach chemsitry and physics im assuming she will be teaching at the HS or college level-there are no DOD schools here-the schools on post fall under the Fountain-Ft Carson Public schools..There are a number of school Districts in the area of Ft Carson-and a couple of high schools with very good reputations. If were her i would contact one of the Colorado Springs or Pueblo School Districts and see what their needs for the 08-09 School year is-if she could get work here she might want to come out before you deploy.

hi, we are at carson and there are quite a few NAF jobs and contract positions here on post. check with the hospital and find out what contractors they are using for the different jobs available there as well as there is a triwest hq which often has jobs. my wife is a nurse and got started at evans pretty quickly through a contractor. also, try the airport..a couple of regional airlines are hiring and that would be a fun job.

I am a middle school math teacher in Colorado Springs. This area is divided into MANY school districts. The one I teach at is north end of town - 30 minutes from Carson but lots of Army live up here. Science Teachers are not plentiful so your lady will have NO problem landing a job provided that she is not adverse to driving a little ways.

Driving a little ways could equal a very good school district -
