I need to know if there is any grants from the navy for spouses for vets that are out of the navy for wives to go to college??? I would really like to know if someone could help me find out if they have any programs for us or is that just for active duty? Sincerly, fran

you start with the financial aid office of your school. The Navy does NOT offer financial aid to spouses or dependents. you would need to seek other organizations for scholarships and the like. the New GI Bill which goes in effect August 2009 has some opportunity to transfer benefits but certain criteria must be met, and if the sponsor is out of the military, may not be eligible to transfer.

If the service member is 100% disabled, there are many state-run programs that help spouses. I remember reading something from the VA regarding this same thing, but I don't remember where. But, he'd have to be 100% diabled to qualify.
