Hi everyone! I'm currently in a teacher certification program in Ohio where I live. My boyfriend and I are planning to get married sometime next summer (at least that's the plan... you all know how the military works! Wink ) and I will be moving to the lovely Del Rio, Texas.

Is there anyone who bounced around from state to state and had to grapple with getting certified in each state? I can't get a straight answer from anyone (TEA, OED, my university, anyone) about how to transfer my Ohio license (which I will get in May 2010) to Texas... and then wherever we are stationed next.

I'm getting certified in Ohio in May 2010 and I would REALLY like to begin teaching for the '10-'11 school year. Just wondering if anyone out there had some advice!

Thanks!

I'd make sure its a full license. Some states won't take the level 1 provisional licenses from other states (which, at least here in NM, is what new teaching grads get - takes 2 yrs and a mentor to graduate up to a full level 2 license).

I'm surprised the Texas dept of Ed does not have something on their website about what you need to do to transfer your license.

Good Luck!

edit: does this help at all?

www . tea.state.tx.us/page.aspx?ID=482

if the link gets erased go to the TEA site, under certification information, click the first link to "how do I become a teacher" - its halfway down that page.
