I tried looking to see if there were any other discussions already about this topic but have had no luck in finding anything so I apologize if I'm reinventing the wheel.

We recently got stationed at Ft. Stewart. My understanding is that military communities made it easier for spouses to do home-based businesses like Mary Kay, Avon, Arbonne, etc on bases.

In order for me to do business on base, I was told I need to get a business license so I have to pay for lawyer's fees for a letter and over $100 a year for the license. I can understand this, it's a local legal thing. It's required of any business in the area.

Once I get the business license I need to apply for an ID in order to do in-home parties on base. Ok, I understand that need too, they don't want anyone to be able to go into peoples homes on base claiming to do business.

What I don't understand is what they require to get that ID. I don't just fill out an application with my intentions and then turn that in, I need to get a letter from the company headquarters with them verifying that the company has a license to conduct business in the state of GA, a list of military installations that have suspended their solicitation privileges, and that they accept full responsibility for my compliance with AR210-7.

I've read 210-7, it seems to only deal with selling financial information and insurance on base. I'm not trying to sell these things, I only work with skincare and makeup.

Has anyone else had to get all this and does the company headquarters send you that letter quickly or does it take awhile?

Thanks in advance for any help.
