Good Afternoon Everyone, I am certain that this question has been asked numerous times, so I am apologizing ahead of time. Is there anyone that knows of any interest-free loans for military spouses? Or any other scholarships that are available this late in the year? My spouse is an active duty sailor, and as of August 1st will have been in the military for about five years, disqualifying us from the new G.I. Bill. The search for college funds is starting to drain me …so any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Your best bet is to visit the financial aid office. They will know what you may qualify for including anything that does not even have to do with military affiliation.

Check with financial aid at whatever school you may be interested in attending. Scholarships will be pretty limited at this time. However, depending on how much money the two of you are making, you may be able to qualify for a Pell grant.

But you have to apply and get it, not everyone does because it is a scholarship. It also depends on the state that is offering it and what program you are going into. It is only for 2 years and $3,000 per year.
There is other programs you can look into, some colleges will have reduced rates for spouses, text books included, etc... Coastline Community College is one for example, online for $59 per credit including books.
I am afraid I do not qualify for the Caa as I am a Chemistry major. I am in the same boat as Catherine here, these are not "portable" careers. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I applied anyway, worst they can say is no
I find the list of "portable" careers extremely sexist.

LOL. the list makes no sense. the legal system is flooded, there are engineering and science shortfalls nationwide. I get that women rarely enter these fields, but geeze.
As I said, I applied anyway, they say no, I start fighting. Wont help me, but may help others later.

I applied for MyCAA I recieved it for the Summer and Fall semester. I am a Physics major at a four year university. That is allowable they ony pay tuition no fees or books. Read the handbook on their site.
Don't forget the tried and true FAFSA. That all obviously depends on income (rank) and dependents/other tax info, but better to get a few bucks towards school than none at all! I'm opting to do my first 2 years at a community college, and my husband is an E-4 and my tuition and books are quite more than paid for in full.
You can apply for Financial Aid - fill out the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ - you will need your 2008 tax forms and your drivers license. The form is generic -- so any school that accpets FA it will be good toward.
The MYCAA is a great option but will never cover the entire cost of you tuition, so you will need a 2nd funding option.
I help active duty, reservists, veterans and spouses of active duty go back to college online so I am very familiar with all the programs out there. IM or email me with any questions.
Good Luck,
Dan Benjamin we do not permit personal emails for secuirty reasons.. and you are soliciting; which is also not allowed.
