Do on base schools generally have a music program? I want to go to school to be a choral teacher, but from what I understand not a lot of schools will hire if you have a history of frequent moves (which I do). So basically, I wanted to know if I can still pursue what I really want, or if I should look at a different career path...
On base schools? You mean the colleges that plant a satellite office on bases? Music program? Not generally. They usually offer Gen Ed and a bit of upper division. Why not pursue what you really want? Where did you get the information that schools wont hire you if you have frequent moves?
very few 'on base' schools Stateside. Most DODDS schools are OCONUS. there are choral music programs as well as band, but mainly High School. the elementary and middle schools tend to have limited programs although they may throw together a spring concert every so often.
The high school choral program would be the one I would be most interested in. Then again, as long as I am dealing with music or even theatre, I am happy. My df and I talked about if nothing else, I could give private voice lessons.
well to give you an idea of what comes out of these DODD Schools.. Yokosuka High school( now called Kinnick High) in Japan graduated one Mark Hamill back in the day. Ever hear of him?
