Hie! I'm starting Massage Therapy school in July. My df and I think this is a great route for me to have the freedom to work from home, make my own schedule, possibly work in spas, clinics, etc. Are there any military spouses out there who are Massage Therapists? If so please share your experiences with this job and how flexible is it with all the moving and applying for license in each state, etc. ANY information is valuable! Thanks for your time!

Not a massage therapist but I saw you haven't gotten any responses yet.
I know someone who did go to school for it. There was one job at the Health and Wellness center on base that she was trying to get, but there was fierce competition. I know she was otherwise trying to work independently because it paid better than working for an employer. I am not sure if it was hard to get a job if one was more flexible. She was having trouble finding something making the money she wanted to make. I guess the only comparison (and its not the best one) I can think of is if you were a hairdresser and you wanted to rent a booth at a good salon instead of working for a chain as an employee. She did not want to be an employee. Good luck. |

I'm a military spouse and PT massage therapist. I work in California so its illegal to work out of your home but many MTs do anyway. Good luck to you it's a really fun and rewarding job.
