You know sometimes the lower paying jobs aren't all that bad. I did a min wage job several years ago working in a video store, in 3 months I got 2 raises and promotion, plus we had free videos, set my own hours and had fun. I would much rather do that than have a high paying job that stresses me to the max thanks.
In these times it is very difficult to get any job. Have you tried a temp agency? sometimes they can do it. Try substitute teaching as another option.

I could imagine the working situation being very difficult now in California, and that reason alone makes me want to stay away from home. Have you tried going into temp agencies?

One more thing have you considered volunteer work? The USO at the airport is always looking for help. There is a food bank on Miramar that wants help as well, there is other military organizations that are always looking for help. Sometimes that can put your foot in the door somewhere else. I got a job a few times because of that. Have you also tried the housing company Lincoln Management? They do have a big staff.

I was thinking about giving this advice as well. It will help you network a little bit more and who knows you may run across someone who knows someone that could help you. Sometimes when you help others, help is returned in ways that you had not thought of. Sorry to hear that it has been so hard for you though. Keep your head up, things will turn around!

It is very difficult in the economy right now. I have a career as a nurse and currently switching careers to be a paralegal. I cannot find a job for the life of me. In Virginia, unemployment runs out after 3 months. I got a letter today stating my unemployment was O V E R....... I'm trying for any job I can get. If I were you, I would take anything, while you are still, in the meantime, looking for a job more suitable. Believe me, I feel your pain......

I can definitely relate. Had to leave a great job in a crummy state that does not feel military spouses warrant unemployment benefits, and I'm still looking for a job. My experiences have run the gamut as far as job searches go after moving. And, I've had to take jobs that I really didn't enjoy and would never make a career of, but it made me feel a little less useless than I am feeling right now What kind of college degree do you have, and what did you do at your last job? The advice above can never hurt--volunteer, get to know some people, and hopefully things will work out eventually--it might take longer than you'd like. Plus, your volunteer work is just as valuable on a resume as paid experience. As soon as I finish unpacking our new house, I'll probably be looking for an unpaid opportunity myself. Good luck!

Hi, I understand your feelings. I finally have a job after being married to a soldier for 8 years and leaving my nice job when I moved to live with him.
I'd never change a thing. But, I do understand. You worked hard for your education and you deserve to have a job that's a perfect fit.
So, keep on doing all that you're doing. Every bit of advice here is good, volunteer, find something that you love, and do it for free. When the time is right, the doors will open for you. Best wishes!
