The are plenty. The problem is, it's an area high in saturation with military and if you have any affiliation with the military it will only hinder you. One thing I've noticed about the Norfolk area is that it is extremely competitive and most places require a college degree even just for entry level jobs. It's the typical saying "It's now WHAT you know but WHO you know" in that area. The Norfolk and Virginia Beach Cities have excellent benefits such as tuition reimbursement on top of great pay; but again, any decent job is extremely hard to come by. The unemployment rate is higher than in the past because of this. Unless you know someone "in" the system you're looking at being a part of, there's very little chance you'll actually get something that you want right off the bat. Especially if you need something flexible, that's not extremely common unless you're only doing PT work which of course has less benefits. For the Norfolk area I'd either suggest PT work for a company or PT-FT work in retail. Those would have the most flexibility and the least amount of hassle with getting a job if you're affiliated with the military in any way. Best of luck to you!

I'd suggest checking with the installations about Student Temporary Employment (STEP) opportunities.
That's how I was finally hired by the Air Force. Being a student was the only way to get me in because this is vet territory and I'd always get skipped over for a vet (which I don't mind...I appreciate that protocol to help our vets find jobs). With the STEP positions they know you're in school and a lot of time you can work PT with a flex schedule. I go to school online so I'm working full -time.
Good luck!!
