for all of the ones serving or served in the coat guard...........Do you think life would have turned out better if you went to college? (......just curiouse......)
I tried coolege for a couple of years after high school. At the time it wasn't a good fit. I bounced around for a few years then enlisted.
I'm now back in college with VocRehab. The college accepted those pre-service college credits; it accepted all my CLEP results except the math; it waived almost 1/2 the requirements for the degree, since OJT was more valuable than classroom time.
So, looks like life is doing okay with college AND the CG.
I know plenty of people that have degrees and still enlisted in the services. Mostly because they couldnt or wouldnt find jobs in the fields that their degrees were in.
With the experiecne you gain in the service coupled with a degree in your chosen field, finding a job will be the easy part.
Sometimes I regret not going to college. But why I joined the CG was by pure fate. I will retire as an W4 with 30 years in 2013 and am so appreciative and honored to have served in the organization.
