CURRENTLY I AM STATIONED ON A 175 FT WHITE HULL.....UMM I MEAN BLACK HULL. AND THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SEOPS SHIPS, NOW MY ISSUE IS HOW DO PEOPLE ON SEOPS SHIPS GET QUALIFIED INVESTIGATOR AND SCENE LEADER? SEOP QUALS STOP AT NOZZLEMAN SO DO WE RELY ON US FEW ON BOARD THAT HOLD ADV DCPQS / INVESTIGATOR /SCENE LEADER LETTERS ? SEOPS TRAINING TEAM COULD NOT GIVE A STRAIGHT ANSWER. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK DC'S
If it comes down to it, get the quals from the DCPQS books for those positions and have the guys you want in those positions do the DCPQS. If you say you're advanced qualified then you should be able to sign those off. That would satisfy me if i were on a SEOPS team. Did you take a hit on those guys not being qualified during the SEOPS visit?
thanx for the feedback DC's. Yes they asked for qual letters but SEOPS letters is all I draft on this unit. But I have put it out there to those I need to be in those billets to complete those sections of the DCPQS book. Just wondering if other DC's had an issue with this.
When I was on the River Boat, I issued the guys the Navy DCPQS books. When they did something in SEOPS I signed it off in the Navy DCPQS. This lets the guys get SEOPS qualified and if they go to bigger cutter next, then they are a step up being Basic Navy DCPQS qualified in accordance with the Navy DCPQS book. I made the guys use the Navy DCPQS for anything above Advanced. Good Luck.
Hmmm... The 175 I was on wasn't white, this must be something new! LOL.. Anyway, we used the DCPQS for other positions ie OSL, RLL and Investigator. Also, we sent folks over to the Navy base for their RLL course.
