There's very little info about OSI that I can find besides the basics.

Is it a mix between being a CSI and detective type?

Is it correct that it's roughly 2yrs in another job before you can apply?

What's the average male:female?

Can you do this overseas?

etc.

Thanks!

OSI
You mean Air Force Office of Special Investigations?

It is NOT an entry level assignment, you must crosstrain into it (at least for enlisted folks, I don't know about officer).

They investigate all kinds of crimes. I think sexual assault and drugs are probably the most common. But whatever crosses their path - murder, child porn, government theft, etc.

They also do force protection stuff - which means they investigate rumors, reports, etc of su****ous activity, or of folks asking too many questions.

They deploy. Seriously. They do some hardcore stuff in Iraq, and at least a few have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Many Air Force bases have OSI detachments, including overseas. Some OSI agents are even sent to training to learn a foreign language.

They wear civilian clothes. Please, please, please do not apply for this reason.
