The editor of the Reservists Magazine, has taken on a great task, and is placing all the issues from the 1950s to the present on line.
It has been almost a daily stop to check up on what happened in the Coast Guard 40 - 50 years ago. A lot of little tidbits are falling into place and jibing with old recollections. Thought I'd throw some of these out here from time to time, if it is of any interest. This coming March 1st timeframe is of particular interest. Of possible interest to newly advanced CPOs, the E8/E9 paygrades were only authorized for the CG Reserve about 1969. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Mastersmate, |

An item of possible interest to Reservists advancing to CPO.
The paygrades for E 8 & E 9 were recommended for the CG Reserve until late 1969 , authorized in early 1970. COMDTNOTE 1430 of JULY 8 1970 announced the advancement list from the March 1970 SWE, and contained the names for advancing to E 7 & E 8. The date in the article should probably be 1 Jan 1971. a mis-print originally ?? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Mastersmate, |

The April 1971 Reservist has a photo identifying SKCS R.J. Banuelos as receiving the first E-8 advancement in the CG Western Area( Pac Area)
Have to clean up my photo bucket, will leave the above photos up for a few more days. Add some more here; The Rservist Magazine just keeps popping up with tidbits of information.
