If my husband gets activated via a Title 10 solicitation, is he authorized to move his family too? I'm unfamiliar with the stipulations regarding these orders as I was active duty my whole career and I married a reservist who spent the majority of his time at a PSU and away from how the CG actually operates. Thanks, sorry if this seems rather basic.

Title 10 orders are temporary AD orders. No PCS occurs so no, you stay where you are at, unless you want to move and pay for it, and he is at a location (not OCONUS) where you could spend time with him on his time off. That would be your own decision and NOT paid for by the CG.

That does raise an interesting question about BAH. AD folks have their BAH based on the unit's location. Title 10 reservists have their BAH based on their residence's location. If one is substantially greater than the other, who picks which one the members get? Carpe Debier: Seize a Lager!

Jerry, Well, for us Reservists, it's our HOR. Doesn't matter if it's cheaper to put in the unit location.

I was thinking of an AD member being married to a reservist, and the Reservist gets activated under Title 10. Carpe Debier: Seize a Lager!

ummm...the OP WAS active duty, so this wouldn't apply. However, an answer to your question might be only one gets the BAH. It would be like any other dual AD couple.

But if there was a substantial difference between the two BAH amounts (AD BAH based on the unit, Title 10 reserve BAH based on the HOR), which one would the members get? Would they be able to elect to take the greater amount, regardless? That's what I'm curious about. Carpe Debier: Seize a Lager!

At a previous unit we had about 100 members on title 10 orders. The member will recieve BAH for his residence. I think the reasoning is to cover payment for your home that you still are paying for. Seems like most people would move out of their homes. All the single guys just moved out of their places back home, banked the BAH from there, and the per diem, lived in a paid for apt with weekly maid service, and got to claim mileage. Title 10 is a big time scam if you ask me, but I don't think the Coast Guard really cares since it's all on the Navy's dime.

This may seem like a silly question, but does per diem automatically get put into your pay check or is it something you have to include in your travel claim like lodging?

It gets paid as a part of your travel claims. Usuallly you have to submit claims to get paid.
