Question about BAH. Say the reserves are called up and deployed say to Iraq or on a Cutter for a year. I'm unmarried with no kids. Would I get BAH to support a house here or would that be cut off? Bascially when you're deployed are you considered to be living in "Government Quarters"?
Title 10 Orders Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) Member without dependents.
BAH is based upon the principal place of residence from which recalled, if the member is ordered to a duty locale where member is unable to occupy their principal residence and was not authorized special storage of household goods.
Unlike active component members, reservists always recieve BAH, even if staying in government quarters at their duty site. The only exception to that is if you were to take long term, non-contingency support ADSW orders and were PCS'd to a duty location where you lived in government quarters. Any contingecny support (such as OEF, OIF) you do would include payment of BAH for your home of record.
hello i got a question? and im not sure how to post it? but i am a ARG soldier (active duty guard) and i am deployed in iraq, how is my bah detrmined? by my home of record? does anyone know what requlation covers bah?
Reserves on Title 10 get the BAH for their home, not duty station. For example, if a reservist lives in rural Virginia but is recalled and sent to New York City, they get the BAH rate for rural VA.
This is different from the active duty whose BAH is determined by their duty station.
Understood by everyone here also. But, you need to speak with your PAC personnel as you are in the Army, not the Coast Guard and it is possible there may be some differences between CG and ANG policies.
