After qualifying for BM on my ASVAB, it's looking like I may take a reserve position at a small boat station.

For other BM reservists out there who are also assigned to a small boat station, what has your experience been like? Have you been actively involved in LE and search and rescue efforts alongside active duty personnel? Have you been deployed and/or called up - and if so, for how long and to where?

Anything you want to tell me about your own experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Just a suggestion, if you want the REAL down and dirty of small boat stations, you probably should contact the unit you could be stationed at. They will be able to tell you what the Reserve do on their weekends. You will also be able to talk, possibly meet with your future fellow Coast Guard members. Every unit has standard operating procedures, but some units do different things associated with their AOR(Area of Responsiblity). Some units may do more LE than others, some SAR, etc. The best source of your information will come from your local area and units you could be stationed at as a Reserve.
