Last month I passed my anniversary date and have that amount of good time.

I am wondering if someone who might have BTDT, can tell me when the 20 year letter will arrive or what I can do to expedite things.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in the USCG and USCGR, but need to move onto some other things that are requiring more and more of my time. I've always made sure I was able to balance regular job and USCGR job, but before I am able to commit to a new endeavour, I want to be "retired" or RET-2, I guess it is for the next 20 years.

I suspect that the letter will come probably at completion of the next anniversary year automatically?

But, it seems to me those 8 months would translate into about 240 points, that could be rounded off to the 20th good year? Or after 4 months of IDT, someone could generate a creditable service report and it could show 20?

Ordinarily, I wouldn't really see it as a big deal to just to let things run their course, but I am anxious to start a new career in my civilian life.

I would also appreciate any advice on what to do/not do with the retirement process that someone has.

Thanks.

AL

Al, didn't you go to REBI in March 2002? Congrats on retirement.

Al,

First, Congratulations on your service.

Second, when you retire, take time out for YOU and don't be in a hurry to take the first job that comes along. I waited and fretted for a while and my dream opportunity presented itself just before I accepted an overseas contract.

Relax and enjoy. I know that they 20 year letter has been discussed on the forums before.

Good luck!
