Hey, I just got this idea for a career path and I'm wondering if its possible, any feed back would be helpful.
I'm currently in college majoring in criminal justice. I eventually want to join the coast guard after college and be an officer hopefully. As far as what to do I have no idea, something along the lines of policing the seas or something like that. But what I'm wondering is if I can join the reserves AND go to school, also get some experience under my belt so when I do join the coast guard I won't be clueless on what to expect. Is this at all possible? I'm sure it says something like this on the CG website but I couldn't find it.
Don't do it. It took me almost three years of actively trying to move from a reservist to an active duty member. You would think its relatively easy to slide a motivated person from the same branch into a different component. Its not. It almost works like two different service branches. Trust me on this one. If you want to go active later in life, wait and just sign up for active.
I went into the reserves the summer before my first senior year in college. If you do, keep in mind that if/when there comes a time that you get "activated," Uncle Sam might not care that you're in the middle of a semester.

True if you are going to go reserve enlisted to active enlisted. If you are going to put in for OCS then yes, join the reserves.
Look into the CSPI program. I just went to bootcamp with a guy who did it. You go to bootcamp during the summer and they pay you and pay for college while you're doing your last 2 years and then you go to OCS after you graduate.
