I will be joining a local police department and going throught the academy within the next 6 months. I also want to join the USCG as a reservist. What or how does the process work in order for me to become an Investigator in the USCGR? I know I must have 3 years of LE under my belt from the start.
CGIS also prefers you have investigative training and/or schooling.
You may want to enlist now in another rating and then approach the local CGIS office when you have all of the requirements met and then request a lateral to IV.

Jerry, doesn't CGIS doing alot of it's own recruiting? I know recruiters need to qualify the applicants. In Seattle we got alot of referals from CGIS out there. CPO Kalbach
