It is a simple question, and it has many answers. This is not about Swift Boat Sailors, brave, honorable, and truthful men one and all, that told their stories of John F Kerry. This is the story of Stolen Valor, and how it almost destroyed some very brave and wonderful men, and all because one individual wanted power, and he did not care about over whoes bodies he had to step to get it. Four months in Vietnam, 17 missions on a Swift Boat, and a plan to get out before anyone there realized what a suck they had in him. He knew the regs, and he quoted them to his CO on receipt of his thrird PHM, and not an ounce of blood lost. He also knew the military system at taking the word of an Officer based on his honor and garnished himself with a chest full of color, all for his political well being.

This is a long film, maybe 8 minutes or more, but listen to what he called us, the men of Vietnam, and know that he is trying to snatch defeat out of the mouth of victory again in Iraq and Afghanistan.

John F Kerry on Vietnam and the men of Vietnam

Excellent post.... Always good to be reminded who the real enemy was back then. I never like the man. Not being Navy, I took the comments and stories then as I do now as pure truth from those that served with him on those Swift Boats.
A 100% pure arse he was and still is.........

I don't hate John Kerry, Al Gore or John McCain and I'm a Vietnam Veteran.

What I DO hate, though, is the spineless, gutless, freeloading Chickenhawks who used their money, or Daddy's influence, to avoid duty in Vietnam and then later in life allow their proxies to discredit men who DID have the guts go and question their service.

Another view I see why rich people son's did not serve? If they did go into a war zone and made it back to the world with the same maladies as other Vets, what would happen if this person sought help with the VA, got rated/ compensated? All other Vets will conclude he got it because of influence. Vets will say, how about me...I got the same problems? The flood gates will open and definitely, the gov't can't have that...Worse yet, this same person becomes a staunch ally to all Veteran's rights.

I seen the same thing day in day out. What I also seen was young american boys falling to pieces when their buddies bitting the bullet or another blown into atoms. Day in, day out we seen the same crap. Not long after, minds conclude war is hell. what did we expect to see? It was no sunday picnic or cheering at a ball game. It was the real deal of life and death! Either them or us! Minds changed alright and ONLY a mind, of the day in, day out struggle would know this to be fact. And if the mind don't change then it endangered yourself but more importantly, the lives of your buddies. Definitely, war was and is HELL...

How strange that you did not report it at the time! that was your duty was it not?

Truthfully, I was in a lot of crap over there as a Grunt, and never did I see prisoners shot, Civilians violated, maybe a cut put on the head of a VC in a way of body count so as he would not be counted twice, but what the hell, he wasn't using that head any longer. As far as stabbing dead bodies goes, like I said about the cut on the head, he wasn't using it any longer, and no harm was done to him and no pain was felt by him, so, what is the big deal.

Matter of fact, many of the stories were contribed at the Dewey Canyon II renderings of what happened In-country. It was found later that many were never there, and if there, were never in the area of where they said the criminal activity actually occurred, and in other cases, men posed as actual war vets and gave false accounts of things that went down over there.

Should the 173rd not have had the discipline needed to be good soldiers, or enforced by their Officers and their Senior Staff, maybe that is an Army thing. From my friends that served in the 173rd, that I know really served in the 173rd, they appeared to be very good soldiers and even in the company of fellow vets of Vietnam, never told me of the crap that you just spilled on here. I can see isolated incidents, but your rendition of the thing seems to be it was par-for-the-course, and that was not so!

Yes! I hate! Hate is an emotion as strong as love, and if you can not hate, you will never love! And, as rare as Love is, so is Hate!

I Love my country! I hate John Kerry!

Good question Joe, thought it myself. By not reporting it, to me, it's the same as sanctioning it.

Read into every war in history and it will be found some sorts of torture by all sides.

The Calley incident was not torture, just plain murder...IMO.

I sure don't want any "wannabee" story teller(s) running the Great America. Sometimes I wonder about them who say talking to the enemy and giving aid is the right thing to do. Even their hollwood conterparts with their insidous war movies can't even win any awards for anything. America is great but these wannabee storytellers, must GO!

Ugly things happen in war.
Kerry and the winter soldiers, some of whom were unnmasked as frauds, attempted to characterise atrocities as everyday business.

Some of it happened, but nowhere near the levels they reported.

Cut an ear off a corpse? so what? Don't hurt.

"Report" it? Bwaaww-hawhaw.

Every body forgets the chopper that landed "guns up" and shut down Calley's party.

You don't get to put kids and women and grandparents in ditches and shoot them.
Not for any reason.
