I just got back from Pheonix AZ MEPS yesterday. Not a bad experience, I also had my job reserved with the recruiter beforehand so that helped too. Just wanted to see if there are any 19D's shipping out from Pheonix on 0816? Contract says BCT starts 0824

Alright! Good to see some other people who are reading these message boards are in the same boat. Yesterday I think I really started to feel the reality of the fact that in less than 1 week it will be " go time ". I talked to some people who did basic at knox a few years ago, and they told me about some of the things they got to do there. Sounds like quite an adventure. But, don't have a lot of time to think about it though, trying to get everything taken care of in the next few days so it will be easy on the wife while I'm gone. How are things going for you guys prior to taking off to Knox?

Butterflys in the stomach from anticipation. The longer I wait the harder it is. Cant wait to get there and give it my all.

Guys:

I did BCT and AIT (didn't have OSUT yet) at Knox...began early Sep 1971. Not much I can give, as so many things have changed in that timeframe; however, some things that most likely haven't changed...do what you're told, in a timely manner, when you're told...mouth closed (for the most part), eyes and ears always open. Hundreds of thousands have done it before you, and many, many more will do it after you. Learn to listen, listen to learn! Good Luck and Godspeed!!

Yep, those butterflys are flapping around. Thank you for the advice Mark. Will absolutely put everything you said into practice, and make the most of this experience.

I hope there is still an opening for this class when I swear in this week! If not, does anyone know when the next class start date is?

I do not know. But, I can tell you that 19d is a high demand MOS, and when I reserved the job there were a lot of openings. I don't think you should have a problem.
