Hello to all!
These boards have been set-up by Military.com as a meeting area for currentand past JROTC cadets. This is the place to get the info, and the inside info on the JROTC programs. Each branch has it's own dedicated forum, so if the general area isn't what you are looking for, venture on over to the branch specific boards for some better insight. Rules here at Military.com are pretty straight-forward. The "Terms of Use" are the guidelines used when messages are posted. You can find the TOU at the bottom of every page that you can find on Military.com. With that said, there are designated "Moderators" (of which, I am one) who scan and contribute to the threads, as well as take care of any inappropriate threads/comments/pictures/etc. Also, if continued infractions occur, an individals posting rights can be removed. With all that said, I hope that the discussions flow well, and that everyone can get all the info that they are looking for. JROTC Units are encouraged to create unit pages via Military.com. This is a good way to keep up with cadets as they move on, and get ahold of cadets that have already moved on. Each school with a JROTC can have one page, with no charges incurred. Also, for the JROTC cadets looking into moving on into the ROTC ranks, Service Academies, or enlisting, there are a great deal of NCO's and Officers that visit other areas of Military.com and they will make there way down here to answer your questions as well. I myself am a JROTC alumnus, so It'll be interesting to see the changes since I left HS almost 10 years ago. Very well said HT.
I also would like to say hello and welcome to the boards. Please feel free to ask questions and join in the discussions. There are a lot of dedicated and very smart folks here. You are sure to find the help you need. Good luck and welcome again. My being insane, is what makes other people normal. I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there. |

Hi, I am Don. I like to visit in here from time to time to help with any info I can. My son was in a NH MCJROTC for 4 yrs and is now a Marine LCpl, Amphibious Assault Vehicle Mech/crewman.
I served 6 yrs in the USCG and 17 yrs with US Customs/Customs & Border Protection Agency driving patrol boats in FL and received training as a sensor operator for the patrol aircraft. Hopefully my posts will be helpful to someone. Don |

Hi all, I'm Rich, my JROTC days were way back in the early 1970's. JROTC will not only prepare you for service in the military, but will act as a springboard to go on to ROTC in college and get your commission as an officer. Some may not like the regimented structure of the program, but I found I enjoyed it very much, I learned a lot about the military and myself. We even managed to have a good bit of fun too.
I took it as a challenge to my self to do the best I could at whatever was thrown my way. In my senior year as a Cadet Captain I was assigned to a first year cadet class and was made the "assistant instructor" as it were when the instructor had to leave the classroom for whatever reason. My eldest daughter joined JROTC then after graduation enlisted in the ARMY and went on to serve two tours in Iraq. It dosen't matter which JROTC program you choose cause you will really benefit from the experience! |

I was in AFJROTC in high school and entered the Army as E-2. Could have went in as E-3 if I had finished the rest of my 3rd year in ROTC (DAMMIT!!)

Because of JROTC, I was a step ahead of other soldiers. I already knew all about Drill and Ceremony(marching, saluting and what not), wear and appearance of the uniform, etc. The other soldiers would come to me to have there ties "pre-tied" and make sure badges , ribbons, insignia, were on point.
