Hello everyone - I have been interested in Freemasonry for a while now, and And in the near future plan on petitioning to join.
I am a Male who is 21 years old AD in the USCG, I do believe in god but do not belong to a church. So I think i covered the "basics". Now next question I live in PA, I do not know any Freemason's, does PA require the signature of 2 members? and if so, how does one go about getting the signatures if you don't know one?

Thanks for the help - I was told many times from my father that my Grandfather was a Freemason, he passed away before I was born sadly, so I don't have any definate answer if he was. I was wondering is there any way too find out which lodge he belonged to if he was in fact a Freemason? If necessary I will E-mail his name/state he lived in if needed just let me know (don't want to post it in public).

Thank you for the assistance!

Greetings Friend: Thank you for your inquiry into the fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons. Depending on where you live and seeking inquiry into Freemasonry. The best place to start is the Grand Lodge in the state of your intended petition. You can go to any search engine like Google, Yahoo etc. and type in Grand Lodge of (state)______ and go from there. The Grand Lodge website for Pennsylvania is below. (See attached). Once you go there, look for contact us. I occasionally interview individuals who contact the Grand Lodge of Indiana who do not know anyone. This is not uncommon and knowing two members is not a requirement. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Good Luck.

Thank you very much Terry that did help, so basically just contact them and they will assist me? That is a relief, I would love to be able to continue the tradition. I did find out my Grandfather was a Mason until the day he died. When I told my Grandmother she was very excited about it. And said if I do get in she would love to pass his ring on to my self. I also found out my father and his brothers were all in DeMolay until they reached the age of 18.

I was looking for this type of question.

I do not carry my fathers last. I carry my mothers last name from my Grandfather. When he died he recieved a Masonic burial. My cousin james is still a mason as far as I know.

My dad, Leslie William Oneal, I keep getting told was a mason as well. Unfortunately I had basically only dealt with him three weeks of his life. He died about a month before I went to boot camp. The story that he was mason as well keeps coming from the weirdest places.

How do I find out if it is true? He was in the USAF till '78 and went into Army civil service. Yes I am one of Red's bastard children Dvlish.

The blood test he took when I was 11 said their was a 99.98% chance he fathered me. I have become curious about some more aspects of his life. If you need my real personal info to find the answer and help. I will provide it provided you agree on your honor not to share it with anyone else.

The best way to address this issue is to go the Grand Lodge of Freemasons in the state of your father and grandfather and start there. You can start by going to a search engine like google and yahoo. Go to the state archives and look for an obituary because most Masons will make reference to their Masonic associations in their obituary. Once you find a Grand Lodge in the state in question, look for a local Masonic lodge and many will have an on-line website. Then find out who the lodge secretary is and make and make inquiry of him. Unless the lodge is closed, ask the lodge secretary and he should be able to assist you in this matter. If you are really interested, you will have better luck making the same inquiry if you are a Mason. Good Luck.

Fraternally,

Remey, I'm Streeper, hit me up in the global I'm at SFO Galveston. I'll get you squared away up there.

As for finding out about family members in Masonry. I contacted the Grand Lodge of Pensylvania, as well as Shrine there to find out information about my great-grandfather (who was the last Mason in my family before me, & on my mothers side.)

It is helpful if you know the lodge name and any other details. The Grand Secretary got back to me within a week with all of his Masonic affiliations including his home lodge, dates he was in, his Scottish Rite valley, as well as his Shrine Temple.

Just give them as much info as you have because that makes it easier for them to work. Good luck with your search and your journey.
