Hello all!

I'm an Englishman who worked in Texas for 3 years, during which time I discovered Skoal and Copenhagen dip. Unfortunately it's not available in the UK with the exception, so I've been told of US military bases. Is there anyone out there who could help me?? You can reach me via email on apjmartin@yahoo.com, or just reply here.

Cheers,
Ant, FC

Well, I can't vouch for currently, but when I was in the military for a person on base to purchase tobacco products for you would be black marketing.

Try https://www.lilbrown.com/Moist-Snuff/COPENHAGEN.htm and purchase on-line

I didn't realise that! Surely it is only black marketing if a profit is made?

Thanks for the online site but unfortunately they don't ship outside the US.

No, selling, trading, purchasing for or even purchasing as a gift for the locals was not allowed.

I think (no proof) that this was due in part to the taxes established by the local countries...in effect, the taxes were being avoided on said items (because for the most part the items were available locally).

I know when I was at Fort Riley, one of the soldiers in my company bought 4 cartons of cigarettes on base, was pulled over off base (Junction City) for a minor traffic violation and he was cited for "Bootlegging" for having the 4 cartons of untaxed cigarettes in his vehicle...$500 fine for having something legally purchased on base in his vehicle off base.

Makes sense and brings meaning to that old saying.
