Would it be possible for a military lodge ie, Sojourners, PHA ect. ect currently operating in Iraq to initiate, pass, and raise worthy Iraqi Brethren? It seems that would foment a bastion or undercurrent of Liberty, equality, and fraternity in a country very short of all three. It seems to me Masonry is the answer. After all our own constitution is based on masonic principals. It takes masons to hold it all together in brotherhood.
I have been in Iraq for two years. I am in Taji now. We have a working lodge here. The answer is most definetly yes. It is possible that an Iraqi could petition for the degrees, and be made a mason here.
We are working with the Grand Lodge of Lebanon, to secure a more permanent Masonic presence here in Iraq, after the US Military has departed.
It is my sincere hope, that Masonry can be made permanent here in Iraq.

Freemasonry is the answer. Regarding Iraqi candidates, consult with you governing Grand Lodge. If you look at any petition, there is certain requirements that must be met beyond being a man of lawful age, freeborne and coming well recommended.

A group of Iraqi men (not yet Freemasons), are working to construct a meeting place and lodge hall in Baghdad. Some masons in the USA and England, are working to assist them. At the current moment, there is no "Grand Lodge of Iraq". Organized masonry was last here in Iraq in 1958, with the British. The various lodges operating at the different military camps around Iraq, are sponsored by different Grand Lodges in the USA.
