Wow im jelouse...ROTC here just makes us use our poncho's with four ground stakes and some cord to make a hooch to sleep in.

Except for BCT, I never once used my shelter half while in the field.

That's a nice tent and all, but 8lbs is too heavy. Wait until you have to tack that eight pounds on top of your body armor, fully loaded pack, weapons and ammo. You'll long for the days of a half pound poncho.
